  • Writing API’s, JSON, XML, SOAP and RESTful Web services.
  • And hopefully:
  • Running applications in the Cloud (Azure/AWS/Google).
  • DevOps, CI/CD.
  • Common third-party APIs (Google, Facebook, eBay etc.).

At iSite we believe in doing rich media differently. The landscape of consumer content is ever changing, but one thing is certain; the demand is increasing. Why waste time being the go-between with multiple agencies for TVC, video, photography, CG and VFX, when you can brief one agency that does all this and more.

We are looking for an Associate Director to join our fast-growing in-house Directors Dept in Colchester – someone who is creative, enthusiastic, motivated and dedicated.

On the Directors Dept, we have built an environment where you can tackle both challenging and exciting projects, bringing your creativity to the department and stamping your mark on a diverse range of content – from fast paced outdoor live action to beautifully lit high-end home studio sets.

You will bring a dynamic, enthusiastic and positive approach to the team, working closely with the other in-house Directors, Producers, Camera and Editors to help facilitate the smooth running of all projects.

As an Associate Director, you will provide creative input throughout the four key phases of each project under the lead guidance of the Head Director – management, pre-production, production and post-production. Also working with the Producers, you will bring key members of the Art, Camera, Edit and VFX teams together for kick-off meetings, sharing the brief and all relevant information for the project. Great communication here is key.

Seamlessly integrating with other departments, you will ensure iSite’s working practices and internal procedures are followed. You will assist with all aspects of pre-production including scripting, casting, costume, props, locations and/or set designs – reviewing and assisting with sign-off before these go over to the client for approval. Balancing your creative judgement, you will recognise and control any limitations within the project, such as ensuring the number of days shooting are appropriate.

You will attend pre-production meetings with all the teams to discuss upcoming shoots. These will include creating storyboards with Art, the equipment needed and the technical approach to be taken with Camera, Photography and Audio and identifying any possible challenges or issues, resolving accordingly prior to filming.

Finally, before moving forward with the shoot, you will help create a shot list based on your approved storyboard and block out an appropriate shooting schedule with the order of each day’s filming. This is integral to the smooth running of the shoot and will set a marker for how the remainder of the project will run.

Using your carefully planned shot list, an approved storyboard and your professional and creative judgement, you will direct the shoot, maintaining a clear and reassuring channel of communication, throughout filming.

Back in the studios you will be developing initial edits, taking pride in the editing process and in seeing your work come together.

Throughout the lifecycle of your project you will have creative communication with the client via emails and phone calls, relaying updates, developments and any issues with the project. You will assist with final sign-off on the content you have directed, with a scrupulous eye for detail, ensuring the highest possible standard is met.

You will raise issues, targets and deadlines at the weekly Director Dept meeting and will share project notes to maintain a clear channel of communication across the department.

Regularly checking in with the Head Director as part of your continued training, you will bring a positive, creative and dynamic approach to the role of Associate Director, continually pushing the standards of content created within the business and constantly striving for perfection.

  • 2+ years previous commercial / professional experience in the industry
  • A strong portfolio of work showcasing creative invention for a wide variety of disciplines
  • Creative flare with a commitment to upholding impeccable attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and written communication
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills
  • Thorough understanding and experience in the complete production process, from treatments and scripting through to filming, editing and client sign off
  • Clear creative vision with the ability to concisely provide direction to all crew and external stakeholders
  • Proactive approach to multitasking and problem solving
  • Technical expertise and understanding of camera and lighting, practical is advantageous.
  • Editing experience is preferred
